Questions people actually ask
What if my watch does not have HRV Status?
Forma falls back to proxy mode, which means the readiness estimate is worked out on the watch itself from Body Battery and stress instead of by the full engine. Proxy values are marked with a tilde on the widget so you can always tell an estimate from a decision. On the web app you can type your HRV status in by hand and get the full decision anyway. Among the watches listed above, only the Venu 2, Venu 2S and Venu 2 Plus lack HRV Status.
Does Forma work without the widget?
Yes. The web app is the whole product on its own. It reads your Garmin data, sets today's session, and pushes the structured workout to your watch so it appears in your workout list. The widget adds one thing: today's dose on your wrist, before you pick up your phone. Plenty of people never install it.
Which watch is best for Forma?
A fenix 7 or newer, or a Forerunner 255 or newer. Those watches record HRV Status, Body Battery, sleep and training load, which is every input Forma reads, so nothing has to be estimated and the training load from your running, riding and racket sports feeds the decision directly. The Venu 3 and vívoactive 5 are good watches and Forma works well on them, but Garmin does not give them training load, so Forma is deciding from recovery signals without the cross-sport load picture. If you are choosing a watch specifically to lift around your sport, that difference matters more than screen or battery.
